amidst this flurry...

Working through my list today in the studio I had a good start with the tiles and then got started on some raku bottles which usually takes me a while to get into the mode of throwing..
All was going too well throwing off the hump then i cut through the base of one and it was all downhill after that... judgement issues...but i stuck with it and considering clay issues, too hard, too wet, well i made a dent in my list at least! And thought how a bout some fun? so i got stuck into some large stew bowls. I think i was inspired by that guiness pie at the pub friday night, so i got through a few of those and still not quite in a throwing rhythm but heading somewhere which i'll pick up again later this week..

So amidst this flurry of clay i get a call from my buddy do i want to go to a club to hear some jazz tonight? ok i say what time well i need to be out by 6pm HA!! i'm covered in clay after shoving up my sleeves all day long but ok, so i pick out the clay bits from my hair... don't ask!!! and manage it all in time.... Long story short we really dont know what we're going to but its a music club, so we go throught the doors and i tell you straight the average age of that room would have been 70!!!! and wait for it its a mens choir with the same average age!! well after the initial shock we had the best night between my friends giggling, snorting, coughing and my barking lungs... With a nice bottle of wine, some ok food and the best canolis ever ... it was the best girls night out!! cheers girls...

  1. Fun times indeed! Mens choir! Ha!... Your list back at the studio looks more daunting than mine! And mine is long... and undone! maybe will scratch a few things off of mine today, maybe.

  2. Fun night out! Good to make lists, otherwise I get easily sidetracked with wanting to do ANYTHING besides my production pieces!! My production lists also helps me to better track what inventory I need on hand. I really like your vases with the smaller openings -very pretty ;o)

  7. Nice to see all those bowls and bottles. The mens choir, bless them, was a hilarious touch. There is a Choir of similar vintage in these parts (I daren't say too much lest I be chased out of town by an angry mob...!), but it cracked me up hearing their version of "Blowin' in the Wind" one year. I don't know what Bobby D. would have made of a nice conductor waving time, a hall piano, and a very tidy turnout of smiling choir members. Actually Bob Dylan is old enough now to join such a choir!!! What a thought!

  8. hey peter monday was one funny day,..I pursued the clay, it challenged me..not sure who won but i was rather covered at the end and thought some jazz would be a nice topper!! heheh so the 'old boys' choir of adelaide formerly Glee club of some 150 yrs history of getting across town by dray and coach at all hours was a great story and some of the fellas had great voices but the steps were a challenge....what a day!!!

  11. cheers C

Hey Jim, Ha that was the premise of getting me out on a monday night i think, Kathy didnt really know what we were going to apart from music...The old boys choir did old vocals some some musical theatre, some of the songs i knew from school choir and some 'gilbert and sulivan' with the good old tarantara which of course i remembered as taranchula,taranchula...so no jazz in sight. maybe next month at the helpmann awards night...
