le table

I got started on the rather large tile project today and didn't quite get as far as i'd like, oh well it's a start once I get my head around it i'll be fine. Just cutting and fitting and working out shrinkage calculations to fit an existing table top it's quite a challenge... I forgot to take pics so this is one of the mockup and i'll get some pics of the real thing on the wkd.

Also daylight savings starts this wkd so we'll either be 1 hr closer or further apart depending on your time zone..

  7. This looks like an interesting project. It got me thinking, I've spent a total of 18 years selling tiles to Architects and Interior Designers, but never once have I tried to make some of my own. I suppose it would be a bit of a bus mans holiday.

  8. It started as a little project for myself an outdoor table integrating blue & white decoration techniques from asia..while I was making that piece kevin a fellow clubee invited a friend of his to see the piece, he was interested in mozaics - well not quite the same thing but heres what it became, the project now 2 massive tables 2mtrs x .8m each- anywho what's a bus mans holiday??

  9. A bus Mans holiday:
There are a few different theories on the origin of the phrase "busman's holiday". The version most commonly accepted hearkens back to the horse-driven omnibuses of 19th Century England. The drivers of these omnibuses often grew very attached to their particular team of horses pulling their carriage through town. During their days off, many of these omnibus drivers would disguise themselves as regular passengers in order to keep a critical eye on the relief drivers and the horses. It is said that the phrase "busman's holiday" arose from this practice of bus drivers spending their downtime riding the buses.
It seems most potters take what we call a bus mans holiday- have you ever met a potter who would not go out of his way- while on holiday- to look at pots or a kiln?
